A reimagined child welfare system reduces the need for intervention in the lives of families by preventing the trauma or maltreatment and removal of children. Families and youth, including those living in homes with domestic violence, are our best sources of information about their own and their community’s strengths and needs. The Children’s Bureau calls for integrating family and youth voice into the design of child welfare responses at both a policy and practice level.
